When it comes to wearable fitness trackers we’re fairly spoilt for choice, many devices wrap your wrist and record fitness data such as the number of steps you’ve done, how well you slept for the night and calories burnt. The makers of one of my favourite fitness trackers the MisFit Shine have announced a brand new tracker the MisFit Link and when combined with the official app provides functionality on fitness related tasks and more.
In terms of this functionality the tracker will count your calories burnt, steps taken, distance traveled and sleep quality/duration but what it does outside of fitness makes it an even more worth while purchase. Changing songs from Spotify, Pandora and other major apps, taking a selfie, advancing slides in a presentation will all be possible – essentially becoming a multifunctional smart button device.
All of this is possible when using the tracker with the Misfit Flash Link App which is available for iPhone now and Android later on.
“We’re focused on making products everyone can use. Flash Link is not just a more affordable wearable, it’s a more powerful one,” said Tim Golnik, Misfit’s Vice President
To get going you’ll need the MisFit Flash Link a small coin-sized tracker which can be worn anywhere including your wrist, shoe, clothes etc. It’s also splash proof and water resistant for up to 30 meters, has a battery life of 6-months, syncs with your iPhone and comes in a variety of colours including Onyx, Frost, Reef and Coca-Cola® Red.
It’s the price that gets me – all of this including the tracker is only $19.99, an an App that is free to download – a very good price for all the functionality that is possible with the device. The Misfit Link Tracker is available from their online store and will be in retail stores soon, the app can be downloaded for iPhone from the App Store (an Android version is coming also.)
