I have to admit, recording video from my iPhone isn’t something I do a lot of (photography is more my thing). So when I had the chance to spend some time with a Handheld Gimbal for iPhone, I was sceptical as to whether I would enjoy it, if would make a different, and more to the point, I didn’t actually know what a gimbal really was.
After spending some time with this particular accessory, not only am I recording video more with my iPhone, but It has to be one of my favorite accessories I’ve used in a long time. It’s allowed me to be more creative with my iPhone, and has surprised me by how much video can become look even more professional using iPhone to record, by implementing a gimbal.
Captures professional stabilised and free-floating video from iPhone in a way you’ve never seen before.
The gimbal I’m using is called the Feiyu Tech G4 Pro, which is designed to be used one-handed and gives you professional quality video by utilising stabilisation and free floating as you record using your iPhone. It does this by using a 3-axis system by panning, tilting and even rolling complete with a 360-degree rotation.
The product itself is very well designed; it has a high quality feel to it thanks to its use of metal not plastic, it also has a bit of weight which helps it provide solid stabilisation. Overall the product doesn’t feel cheaply constructed at all.
Using the Gimbal is also very easy – a clip-on system easily allows you to have your iPhone be held into place – and iPhones including 5, 5c, 5s, 6/6 Plus, and of course the new 6s/6s Plus can be used. A function button and joystick on the handle of the Gimbal allows you to switch between five modes being Pan Following, Tilt and Pan Following, All Axis Lock, Inverted and Standby all which can be used one-handed. You can also attach the gimbal to a tripod with a tripod mount built into the bottom of the handle.
All of this results in video that is smooth, stabilised and attains a particular professional quality when you play it back. Combine that with the Full HD video or even 4k video recording from the iPhone 6s and you will be amazed with what is possible.Share
