Final Fantasy IX now available on iOS App Store

The Final Fantasy series is undoubtedly one of the most influential and undeniable staples in the roleplaying genre. While the games continue to make headlines and maintain a loyal fanbase, the sequence of Final Fantasy‘s VII (7), VIII (8) and IX (9) are considered by many to be the golden years of the series. More than 15 years after its initial release on the PlayStation One, the 5.5 million-selling RPG classic has made its way to mobile platforms, including the App Store for iOS devices.

Zidane and the Tantalus Theater Troupe have kidnapped Princess Garnet, the heir of Alexandria. To their surprise, however, the princess herself yearned to escape the castle.
Through a series of unusual circumstances, she and her personal guard, Steiner, fall in with Zidane and set out on an incredible journey. Meeting unforgettable characters like Vivi and Quina along the way, they learn about themselves, the secrets of the Crystal, and a malevolent force that threatens to destroy their world.

For the the first time, Final Fantasy IX is available to play on your compatible iPad and iPhone devices, giving die-hard fans a chance to re-live the adventure, and a newer generation the opportunity to experience it for the first time.

Square-Enix announced the title late last year, along with the definitive Final Fantasy VII, and promised several improvements to the mobile port. The new version includes an auto-saving feature, updated HD character renders, the ability to turn off random encounters, and touch screen functionality – however, compatible gaming controllers such as the Gamevice Gaming Controller create a more natural and effortless experience. It may be a good idea to get comfortable, because it’s not unheard of to spend upwards of 100 hours perfecting this game.

Final Fantasy IX is now available for iOS devices on the App Store. As a launch sale special, the game is being offered for 20% off (AU$26.99) until February 21st.
