The first time Apple got closer to fashion was with the Apple Watch which a major part of it is all about combining technology with style. Then came the Apple Music streaming service which makes millions, and millions of tracks available for a monthly membership. A big part of Apple Music is curated playlists all of which are created by a human rather than a machine. It’s these curated playlists that bring Apple further into the fashion world with Apple Music Fashion – Launching with curated music from fashion designer Alexander Wang.
Apple Music Fashion brings featured playlists of music from a number of fashion curators including Burberry, Made to Measure, Dazed, and Vogue but the first comes from designer Alexander Wang himself which Apple describes as one of the most influential figures in fashion today.
Alexander Wang has curated three playlists including CHILL, HYPE, and VIBE. Apple describes them as being packed with dark, sexy vibes and turn-up anthems all of which display his irreverent taste. Like the other curated playlists on Apple Music, Alexander Wang will be updating his playlists throughout the year as no doubt more curators are likely to arrive on Apple Music Fashion.
“Year-round I’m always trying to find music and define who the character that season is, thinking about the show, the energy, and the venue, so I start collecting a playlist throughout, using it like a memory bank for songs I like.” – Alexander Wang
Apple Music Fashion can be viewed on Apple Music here, along with all of Alexander Wang’s playlists. Apple Music membership is available from A$11.99/month in Australia, US$9.99 in the US and other countries around the world – with the first three months free.
