One of the world’s biggest tennis championships, the Australian Open is currently being played out in Melbourne, Australia which is being broadcast “live and free” on channel Seven. However, another way to watch is by streaming the event over the internet with the 7TENNIS app.

I recently made this point to my mum, that she can watch the matches by streaming them on TV with the 7Tennis Apple TV app, but her response was “why would I watch it there when it is here on TV?”.

It may seem like a fair point, and but the is a obvious benefit to streaming from mobiles or tablets is that you  can watch games while not at home, but what if you are at home?7Tennis App iPad ProThe advantages really come down to choice. There is the ability to not only watch a live stream, but to watch game highlights, full replays of games you have missed, exclusive content, interviews, and the ability to decide between up to 16 courts of matches during the Australian Open.

This also spreads beyond the Australian Open with coverage including the Davis and Fed Cup in February, and Wimbledon later in July. However, while a lot of this is free, watching selected full match replays, 600 matches live in HD, and fewer commercials are only possible with 7TENNIS Premium – a one-off $9.99 fee.

The app can be downloaded on Apple TV, for iPhone and iPad from the App Store and Google Play store for Android. It is also available on other devices such as Telstra TV.
